Rules of Rounding

1. When rounding to the nearest tens place, look at the number in the ones place and draw a door (box) around that number. 2. Ask yourself, Is the number in the door greater or less than 5? 3. Say to yourself, 5 or more, go next door. 5 or less, stay the same and 0s your name. 4. If the number in the door is greater than 5, add 1 to the number in the 10s place and put a 0 in the ones place. 5. If the number in the door is less than 5, the number in the tens place stays the same and a 0 goes in the ones place.
