FUNDRAISING

EVERYONE MUST MAKE A COIN COLLECTION JAR FOR LEADERSHIP. THIS JAR

WILI BE USED FOR

MANY FUNDRAISING ENDEAVOURS.

KEEP THIS JAR IN YOUR LOCKER FOR THE YEAR!

Pancake Breakfast (3 students for organizatibn, entire class for day of breakfast) 1-. Powerpoint advertising to bring a donation/loonie to the Pancake Breakfast. 2. Print powerpoint for posters to hang up around school. 3. Assign students locations to collect money: front entrance, cafeteria, front of line at the cafeteria door (very important), and hallways. 4. Collect all money from students at the en d of the breakfast and bring to M rs. Kippan. Prize Draw {4 students for organization, entire class for collecting prizes and selling tickets) 1. Hand out 5 prize request letters to each leadership student and list where each student will drop off a form so that we do not go to the same place twice. Assign students to the following: Ms. Sena (free lunches), Mr. Gill (colt tshirts), Mr. Szeto (colt store). 2. Set up a schedule to sell tickets at lunch - every day until the day before the draw. Teach students the procedure of selling tickets. 3. Powerpoint slide for tv announcements stating where students can buy tickets, draw items, and when the draw will take place - at Minoru Track after run if it is sunny, over the PA announcements after the run if raining. 4. Tickets - | will give you draw tickets. One ticket goes to the buyer and we keep the other ticket. On the ticket we keep we must write the student ndme and student number on it for claiming the prize. 5. Draw before the run - complete the draw for'each prize and list the student name beside each item. Write them down so it is easy to help the MC's announce the winners at the event. You both will present the prizes. Loonie at Finish Line (3 students to organize, entire class one morning to hand out cards) f.. Powerpoint slide asking students to bring a loonie to the run to donate in Terry's name at the finish line. 2. Business cards to hand out at door to get students to bring their loonie. 3. Organize the date to hand out cards and assign two students to each entrance of the school. On the day of, meet students at 7:45am and distribute business cards. 4. Collect loonies at the finish line (more people will help on this day). Coin Drive (2 students to organize, entire class to walk around with donation jars) 1. Powerpoint to let students know we will be collecting loose coins throughout the campaign. 2. Collect money at each class to give to Mrs. Kippan. TBA Fundraiser (5 - 7 students)

GRADE 8 ASSEMBLY

All students will be at the assembly to help with organization setting up and supervision. Powerpoint (3 students to organize, other students who are willing to present a topic) L. Updatelimprove the powerpoint from last year. 2. Assign each topic one speaker for the presentation. Write it down for Mrs. Kippan.

Main MC's will open the assembly, introduce who we are, let students know why they are here for the special assembly, conduct the assem bly where needed and provide a closure. You must work with the Powerpointteam ensure information/slides you need are included and are in
sync. DAY OF THE RUN

In addition to other jobs, some students will be responsible for the following: Finish Line Collection (Loonie at Finish Line Team, MC's,2 students) 1. Have your coin collection jars ready to collect loonies at the finish line.

MCs (2 students) L Must write speeches of what we are doing: A. Opening speech welcoming all particlpants (ie. Welcome to the 33'd Anniversary of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope. In honour of Terry, we will com plete two laps of either the short route or the long route around Minoru Park. At the finish line, please donate a loonie to the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research. On your second lap, you are may enjoy ONE cup of watef uice. Here we go Colts, starting in three, two, one, RUN !) B. End of Run (ie. Congratulations Colts! You did it! Thank you for your great effort. C. Winners of the run (ie. We would like to call upon the winners of the race. The first teacher across the line is . Please corne up to receive your prize. Thank you's: Students (generous contributions), Teachers, Principal and Vice-Principal's (all of their assistance), Mr. Partridge (huge support and help), Ms. Forrest and the Fit for Life class (directing students on the run), Leadership class (for organizing the run, draw prizes and fundraising). Raffle Draw: The Raffle Draw team will have a sheet with the draws already done. Announce the names and the raffle draw team will present the awards. Closure: Congratulate Colts. Remind students they are to return to the school for 12:45pm as classes start at L2:45pm. Dismiss them from the bleachers.

Music (1 student) L. Must create an upbeat playlist that lasts for t hour or more. All songs must be appropriate and not contain any swear words. Songs about sex, drugs, etc. are not appropriate. lf in doubt ask me. You will also be a route inarshal at the run.

Water Station (3 students and PE class) 1. You will be responsible to hook up the hose, set up the tables, put garbage bags out, make the juice if available, fill up the juice and water cups and hand drinks out. You will be responsible to organize some students from another PE class to help you.
Route Marshall's (rest of class and Fit for Life) 1. Students not filling roles above will need to be a route marshall. You will be placed at a location to go to on the day of the run to direct students and to ensure students don't go off course (ie. to the mall). At the end of the run, report back to the bleachers to assist in other duties.
