Volcano activity increases since early morning. We can see hot clouds or commonly referred to as 'wedhus gembel' that has emerged this morning. Based on the data released by the Special Staff of the President of the field of Natural Disaster Andi Arief, hot clouds showed up again at 0:15 to 0:18 pm. : The state of the volcano is currently in a safe status. Although this morning it has exploded a 'wedhus gembel' in a large scale around 00:15 until 00:18 pm. : Ms. Ita can you explain what is 'wedhus gembel'? : Well, 'wedhus gembel' is hot cloud containing materials of Mount Merapi, when it was erupting. Because the movement of the Merapis vomit is lumpy and white. Its like a feather wedhus (sheep) gembel when its looked from a distance. So, the local society named it Wedhus Gembel. : Do you know, what are the materials in wedhus gembel? : In general, the content of "Wedhus Gembel" which scientifics name is a pyroclastic flow density is solids form (dust with sizes from volcanic ash to lapilli), and the gas phase (CO2, sulfur, chlorine, water vapor and other) which are mixed with air. At Mount Merapi pyroclastic lava formed by a new mechanism, often called nuee ardante d 'Avalance. This type of heat clouds will flow through the zone of river valley, following the direction of the flow of lava on the valley. : So, it can be said pyroclastic toxic because it contains sulfur and chlorine gas.
