It is the only Canadian province that has a French-speaking population, and the only to have French as its official language. Montreal ( French: Montral), is a city in Quebec. Montreal is named after Mount Royal, the triple-peaked hill located in the heart of the city. French is the city's official language .

67.9% of the population speaks French at home, compared to 16.5% who speak English.

56% of the population are able to speak both English and French. At school, students learn English and French.
