to focus on is the Ukraine because I am more familiar with my familys background in Ukraine than anywhere else. The Ukrainian flag is quite simple, it consists of only two horizontal stripes one blue and one yellow. It was adopted as the national flag in 1992; its colors reflect the different sceneries of Ukraine, the many wheat fields and the skies and rivers. "Shche ne vmerla Ukraina" or Ukraine has not yet perished has been the countrys national anthem since 1992. It is a recreation of a patriotic Ukrainian poem by a prominent ethnographer, Pavlo Chubynsky. If I wanted to it is possible for me to become a citizen of Ukraine but it would mean that I would be absolved of all other citizenships and I would have to permanently reside in the territory of Ukraine and stay there throughout my citizenship. If my parents or grandparents had resided in the Ukraine any time before 1991 I would technically have citizenship, but my grandfather was born here in the U.S. Some other interesting facts about Ukraine include, the oldest map known to scientists, as well as the most ancient settlement of Homo sapiens were found in Ukraine, in the village of Mezhireche. They are 14.5 15 thousand years old. The map is cut out of the bones of a mammoth. The settlement is made of the same material. Also 90% of crimes in Ukraine are solved; this is because of the reluctance of the Ukrainian police to record hopeless cases such as lost/stolen phones.
