Lesson Topic: Art and Digital Portfolios. The following lesson plan/handout was written for high school (grades 10-12) Art students currently taking an upper level Ceramic course. The lesson requires students to document their pieces over the course of the semester, and then use those images to create an online portfolio of their work that will include writing. Student will use a document camera to photograph their pieces. They will create their online portfolio at weebly.com

1.) You will need to create an account and login to the weebly.com website. You will then pick a title for you online portfolio and the kind of website address. You will pick option A the free option. You should use your first and last name here for the title. 2.) Once you do that you will pick a design. Remember to choose something that will reflect you and your work while being simple; you can click on the different designs to preview them. Once you have found one that you like click select. 3.) To make pages click the pages button then click the new page button.You will then be able to add a title and once done this click save. The titles you should title them Biography or you can choose to put this under home. You will also make a gallery page that will have your photographs of your work. When you upload the photographs they should have the title of the work, the medium, and the year. The last page is contact me; it should be a simple sweet short message that links the visitor to your email. 4.) After you pick your design it is time to add elements. This is where you will add the photographs of your work, and the biography as well as your artist statement. Under Basics is where you will find the text button and under multimedia is where you will find galleries and photos. When you pick these just drags them onto the place you want on your website. When choosing the gallery button it will ask you to upload your photographs.

5.) The majority of the work needs to be done under My Work. This is where you will upload your photos and artist statement. Here are some questions you might want to answer within your artist statement. What are your personal art values or aesthetic? How are your personal art values or aesthetic seen in your artwork? What do you like best about the finished product?

Describe the medium you use. Describe your style. Describe a theme that runs through your work. Why did you decide to become an artist? What do you like best about making art? What has influenced your work (Travel? Other artists? Family? Culture?) How does your work reflect this influence? 6.) My Bio should include a photo of you along with a few sentences that provide some type of information about you. Finally, complete Contact by typing a couple of sentences, adding your email address, then click on publish. Remember to click publish at the end of each day. Once you have completely finished your portfolio, please email your URL to the teacher.

Measurement of Success

Students will be able to reflect on their online portfolio; they will incorporate in their reflection their process what they would change what they plan to do with it in the future as well as how they will continue to use this online portfolio. This online portfolio can be something that students continue to use to document their work with other art classes that I or other teachers will be teaching. Artist Portfolio Rubric 1.)
