ESCAPE

Above: Memphis is the musical home of blues. Below: Priscilla takes a moment to remember at the legendary Sun Studios

Memphis derives from the Spanish and French who had settled in the area in the 16th century. It sits on the Mississippi River and Priscilla has recently christened the American Steamboat which tours the river and educates about the epic civil war. The vessel is like a cinema prop - a real life relic of American history. To see such a craft being enjoyed in 2013 is a sight to behold. Besides the citys relationship with the music industry, Memphis has a wellrespected reputation in the visual arts. The Brooks Museum as well as the South Main Arts district are destinations for exciting contemporary art. Priscilla is a patron of the worldfamous Dixon Gallery and Gardens, for

which we attended a glamorous event during our stay, where Priscilla presided as the guest of honour. Traversing the city with Priscilla is a curious experience. People are stunned to see her, some silently, others more garrulous. Either way they are a welcoming community and have embraced her as they seem to do with every visitor. She remarks, The warmth of the people here is so authentic, down-home, and full of good ole southern hospitality. We venture down Beale Street heading to the famous Sun Studios. Another historic destination, this is possibly the most seminal recording studio in American popular music you can almost hear Aretha Franklins dulcet tones crackling through the speakers of this legendary venue. During the course of our exclusive shoot for Bazaar Interiors, I notice how Priscilla possesses an effortless, elegant glamour. Her personal style is best described by longtime friend and Memphis resident, Pat Kerr Tigrett, a prominent fashion designer and highly regarded figure in town, as classic and refined, not following trends but always with that right amount of rock and roll
