You are on page 1of 1

October 8, 2013 Dear Andy Todd, I've carefully considered the Libguide and have applied what I have

discovered using a close copyedit of the first of the Practice Exercises. The process of evaluation leads me to a few suggestions I would like to propose. The majority of my suggestions support the message of the Libguide you have written by establishing and maintaining consistent typography, punctuation and style throughout the document. We can provide much clarity for the end-user by simply giving commands, typing instructions, and work-process directions different and consistent styles. I have suggested a number of style conventions that could be adopted, but many of my suggestions can be altered to fit your personal preference. What I am recommending is that we work towards consistent conventions from the first page to the last. I am also recommending a few small format changes: all screen shots are inline with the text, follow the instructions that they are referring to, and are sized appropriately so as to not overwhelm the page hints, suggestions, and notes are set apart from the text, bracketed for emphasis, and displayed in light blue, roman text questions and multiple choice answers are likewise separated from the instructions, enclosed within a 1 point text box, and distinguished from directions with sufficient white space.

It has been a pleasure working with you and I look forward to a successful and mutuallly satisfactory completion of the project. Kind Regards, Christopher Bates
