Frequency measurement
One of the most important jobs in electrical engineering is the highly precise determination of the frequency or period duration of random analog signals. Nowadays this is done using digital methods, which provide highly precise and reproducible results all the way into very high frequency ranges. The technique of digital frequency measurement can be subdivided into frequency and period duration measurement. The measurement circuitry used for both methods is basically the same and comprises a clock signal generator, a gate, a counter and a display.
