Introduction
This reports main aim is to highlight the tasks and challenges that I have experienced during the three weeks of work placement at Mr Bubbles Dry Cleaning, I have been given some tasks that were new to me and some tasks which I have done in class at the college during my course. Also at this report I have outlined some of the other skills that I have both used and gained which are soft skills, such as effective communication, working in a team, how to become customer friendly and more. The report explains how any tasks I have been given or any skills I have used are related to my course at The Manchester College, and how did I search for any information in relation of any problem solving or getting the tasks done.

What relevant IT knowledge/skills have you gained this period The first task I have told to do from the first day of my placement at the company was a proper networking issue. It was about an hour after I arrived when one of the companys staff have detected that one of the workstation is not connecting to the network, thus if it does not it means it would not operate, because every time it turn on it has to grab a red apple software from the managers office that customers details are stored, after I detected the issue it turned out to be a cable disconnection. At this task I have gained troubleshooting skills by identifying an issue and a trouble solving by reinstalling a cable to restore the companys network connection. How did you acquire the new knowledge skills I had to refresh my memory and going through CCNA course knowledge that I have gained during the class. I would not say new skills, instead it was refreshing because it was fairly familiar to me, both detecting the issue and solving it in the same time. How does this knowledge/skill relate to your course (give details of units and outline any previous knowledge) The networking troubleshooting and trouble solving skills are the skills that I have learned from CCNA labs, which Mr Price teaching us. They were not new skills to me instead as I mentioned from the above paragraph they were refreshing.

Identify any relevant personal/social skills i.e. team working, interviewing used this period As I have been notified by one of the staff that there is a connection issues with one the workstations, and having gathering enough information from the companys staff and managing director himself, I can tell that some soft skills have been involved such as working in the team, problem solving and communication.

What relevant IT knowledge/skills have you gained this period At this task I was told to take care of customer servicing, I had to be at the till for about two hours to take orders from customers when they bring items for dry cleaning. At the beginning of the task I had to login which I have been given a temporary username and password. At this task I have gained to login to the companys system in order to be able to taking customers order, thus creating a temporary user name for the login purposes is the skill I have gained this period. How did you acquire the new knowledge skills I have taught how to login to the system by IT manager who is responsible of IT and the companys networking issues, so that prevented me to go and search from the companys website or from internet.

How does this knowledge/skill relate to your course (give details of units and outline any previous knowledge) Anything requires username and password while a companys user want to login with is more likely to be related to Microsofts window server and active directory, which I have been taught by Mr Maloney first semester last year which was windows server R2 and active directory.

Identify any relevant personal/social skills i.e. team working, interviewing used this period Other skills I have learned from this task was being the most effective communicator person possible, as well as performing as highly developed personality towards the customers particularly and the staff in general.

What relevant IT knowledge/skills have you gained this period As I am in the second week of work placement Im a bit more confident than the first day, thus unlike the first day now Im ready for any tasks to do. This time I have been asked to go to the managers off ice in order to have a look at his computer to see why it is not connects to internet, as I suggested the issue was miss configuration of DHCP. As a result I have gained a technical skill which was identifying internet connection issue. How did you acquire the new knowledge skills As I have learned about DHCP from both CCNA and network environment from Mr Price and Mr Maloney it was relatively easier than any other issues I might have faced, I could always go back to my notices I took from those classes I have mentioned above, which it would be my main source of information to find solutions to any related issues like that.

How does this knowledge/skill relate to your course (give details of units and outline any previous knowledge) I have learned about DHCP from both CCNA and network environment from Mr Price and Mr Maloney.

Identify any relevant personal/social skills i.e. team working, interviewing used this period As the issue was relatively easy, I was a bit over proud of myself which would be unnecessary, the manager have noticed that from me and I was a bit embarrassed to be what I am not, so the next time I will get something like that done, it would be in the heist possible down to earth attitude to make the third party happy to the stage that the next time would be priority towards me.

What relevant IT knowledge/skills have you gained this period Upgrading companys computers Operating System (OS) from windows seven to windows eight, this task was the second task of the second week, it was the managers suggestion, and he thought windows eight have more flexibility in terms of businesses product search.

How did you acquire the new knowledge skills In order to get information, how to install windows Eight I had to go to Microsofts official web site where I got a few video training, in the video training there were two ways have been provided 1. By purchasing the CD 2. To buy and download online.

How does this knowledge/skill relate to your course (give details of units and outline any previous knowledge) As a current courses I have not perform any windows Operating System (OS) installation, but going back to 2009 at the Manchester college level 2 IT practitioner course I have installed an OS on computers, thus from previous knowledge and video training from Microsoft website I was able to go through the process.

Identify any relevant personal/social skills i.e. team working, interviewing used this period As I was about to purchase the windows eight (W8) on line I was a bit undecided which edition is to meet the organisation requirement, thus I had to go to the managers office where he can decide which one to buy, as I got the decision and returned to complete the purchase I noticed that one of the member of staff has navigated away from the page, I was a bit upset at first, but as a few minutes later, when I noticed that the person was super calm, I went to him apologised and thanked him for teaching me such an important interpersonal skill which is being calm even when the others are not for the purpose of being an effective member of staff.

What relevant IT knowledge/skills have you gained this period Installing anti-virus: I have asked to upgrade the companys anti-virus program, because there was only two days left form the current anti-virus program licence which they bought a year ago, I suggested to install free online anti-virus which could save the company a few quid, the manager asked me if the free anti-virus program is protecting the network in heist possible standard, I said if the members of staff are using the website for the purpose of company related sites and product search the network will be ok. How did you acquire the new knowledge skills I have learned about free anti-virus programs from www.download.com

How does this knowledge/skill relate to your course (give details of units and outline any previous knowledge) Network Security (model 8) is a subject that Mr Maloney has taught us; also previous experience has been an effective part from this activity.

Identify any relevant personal/social skills i.e. team working, interviewing used this period Being an effective member of staff at the organisation was a very important skill I have gained during the final week of the work placement.

What relevant IT knowledge/skills have you gained this period Replacing a faulty hard drive: this task I have gained to detect and solve hardware issues. one the computers were not turning on, after I detected the issue, I have asked the manager to provide me with a hard drive, preferably the same make as the computer if not a compatible one will do, the task have been completed successfully by installing the hard drive along with windows operating system, because they did not have a backup and data recovery storage, it was my suggestion to the manager to have data recovery within the companys network infrastructure. How did you acquire the new knowledge skills In order to be able to successfully perform the task I had to go back to my old notices from IT practitioner at The Manchester College, in addition I have searched and printed the hard drives manufacturer website manual with full instruction of how to install hard drive.

How does this knowledge/skill relate to your course (give details of units and outline any previous knowledge) As I mentioned from the above paragraph, I have learned hardware installation from previous course that I have completed about three years ago at The Manchester College.

Identify any relevant personal/social skills i.e. team working, interviewing used this period As I was in need of a lots of help to get an appropriate tools in order to successfully perform an installation, one of the companys staff has taught me how to be a positive t eam working member of staff by helping me of any to complete the task despite the task was not his responsibility, Thus in the future I will use this skill and hopefully it will help me to be an effective member of an organisation.

Conclusion
In this report I have outlined tasks I have done and skills I have gained during the three weeks of work placement at the dry cleaning company (MR BUBBLES), in addition to the tasks I have explained how other skills been an important part of an amazing experience at the company, such as communication skills, working in the group skills and being down to earth towards others, This report is concentrated on how the tasks that i been told to do is related to the course we are doing and how did I get an information about them.
