World Peace for One Day

Every year, international world peace-day happens on September 21. In 1981, the UN General Assembly voted on whether or not they should have an international peace day. In my opinion, I think this choice made by the UN Assembly was a great choice. Its just not relatively known because it is mainly observed by heads-of-state. All members of the assembly voted in favor of the Peace Day. The day is dedicated to peace and standing without fighting. The peace bell is rung in New York City on the morning of that day, and it is observed by civilians and others. Many people in religious groups support the celebrations held on this day, like the Dalai Lama, the Pope, as a well as other religious leaders. Earlier this year, it was the 30 th anniversary of the holiday. Presidents and other heads of state have contributed to the events on this date, like Kofi Annan, the former president of South Africa. Also, Ban Ki-Moon, the United Nations speaker, from South Korea, has rung the peace bell in 2005. One place that is having huge negotiations is the Israeli-Palestinian border. They have went back to the original redrawing of the 1960s border, in which Israel representatives and Palestinian representatives made an agreement. They have had relatively calmer times in that region since the turn of the century. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Are their statistics to prove that international peace day helps anyone Are you sure that people actually follow along with it and not just the politics Is this in America because theres probably not a lot of people that have heard of ti If this is 30 years old how come it is not a known holiday If it is an international peace day how come we dont have school off that day
