November 5, 2013 WRD-103 Genre Analysis I decided for this assignment that I would do a petition in style of a letter. A petition is what causes the students to see the case that you are trying to influence them to be a part. With it being in style of a letter, it is a chance to make it more personal and informative. My audience knows how much they are paying. They know the tuition price as well. What they probably dont know is what charges are included in the tuition. These charges could possibly decrease the amount that students are paying. They also probably dont know the other schools that are ranked the same as DePaul and what their tuition prices are. My audience current state on the situation could be limitless. There are some students who can afford this and doesnt care. There are some students who received FASFA, grants, or scholarships. There are some students who cant afford this price for the next four years of their lives. There are some students who didnt receive and FASFA, grants, or scholarships. The situation varies between each student. However, each student should be willing to decrease the tuition. The less money they are paying, the more money can stay in their pockets. I believe the petition and letter is the best way to go to give an easy case with information, but not bore them with a speech. It is an easy hit-it-and-quit-it style thats affective and reachable.
