Whats up, Big Dawg?

Well, my name is Linh (pronounced just like Lynn) Tran, the older sister of one brother. His name is Vinh (rhymes with Linh, or think of Vin Diesel) and hes 13 years old. I was born in Concord, NC but I moved to the town of Harrisburg, NC about seven years ago. I went to Hickory Ridge High School right here in Harrisburg. I am a Vietnamese-American whose parents fled Vietnam during the Vietnam War when they were barely teenagers. I have only been to Vietnam once, which was in the summer of 2004, and I found it intriguing to be able to see where my parents came from firsthand. My dad lived in the city of Phan Thiet, which is right off the coast, and my mom lived in Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh City. The closer it gets to the first day of classes, the more anxious I get! I cant wait to meet new people and be in a completely different setting than a high school. Each day I get more and more followers on Twitter and Instagram by simply using the #UNCC17 or #UNCC hashtag. I love being part of social medias and being able to connect with people that I have yet to meet! I love staying connected with all of the friends I made during SOAR as well through social medias. I have picked nursing as my major, and I am super excited about it! As for courses I enjoy, I have always enjoyed English courses and history courses that I took throughout my middle school and high school years, so I am hoping that college doesnt make me start to dislike those two subjects. I have three best friends that I have made throughout the four years of being at Hickory Ridge and we were inseparable until now that were all going our separate ways. I met two of my best friends in chorus class and the third best friend I met on the first day of school in homeroom, and we gratefully graduated right next to each other! During my elementary school and middle school years I played tennis and soccer, I figure skated, and I played the flute in band. In the fifth grade, I actually went to a regional competition in Charleston, SC for figure skating and competed in two divisions. In one of the divisions, which was called the Long Program, I won first place out of 10 or 12 other girls from the Southern region! I would say that has been one of my favorite memories from figure skating and one of my greatest accomplishments. I am currently working and plan to still be working while I am going to school. I currently work at a Kumon Math & Reading center where I have worked for the past 2 years. At Kumon I help the students with the Kumon-made worksheets if help is needed. I love working with children, which is what I want to do. I want be either a neonatal nurse or a pediatric nurse. I am currently a Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) in the state of

North Carolina as of June 2013! Im hoping to find a job under an RN very soon to be able to keep my CNA license to be able to apply to the nursing school here at UNCC! I hope to have a lot of fun and learn a lot in your English course. As I said earlier, I have always loved English courses so I hope to continue to love it and strengthen my writing skills. I am excited to see what this semester has in store for me and I hope to prove to myself that I can be a decent writer!
