Formative Assessments

Throughout this lesson I will use a variety of formative assessments to gauge the progress of my class and determine when they are ready to move on to the next part of the inquiry project. Initially I will use the first round of responses to their individual anticipation guides to see where each students is with their knowledge about maps. I will also use the group anticipation guide to gauge where to start my whole group instruction and then differentiate from their for the struggling learners identified by their individual anticipation guides. I will also use the group guided listening guide as a means to follow my class progress through the research materials. By monitoring what students are writing down on their sticky notes to add to this listening guide I will be able to see who is understanding the assignment and who needs more guidance during research. I will also be able to use this to gauge the growth of the whole groups knowledge in regards to maps.

Summative Assessments
At the end of the unit I will collect each students individual anticipation guide after we have completed the second round of answering. This will show me the growth of individual students from the beginning of the inquiry project.

Appropriate pictures to represent their assigned room.
