Context and objectives of the project

Gabon has a hydropower potential of over 6,000 MW, of which only 2% is used. The development of this potential will meet the energy needs of the Industrial Gabon. Thus, Gabon plans to implement, with the support of its partners, a park production capacity of 1,200 MW in 2020, then 3000 MW in 2030. This offer will be composed of 80% hydro and 20% thermal energy from gas. With such an energy mix, Gabon wants to position itself as a benchmark for sustainable development and energy competitiveness. Thus, it is seven dams projects that are planned or underway. The hydroelectric dam of Ngoulmendjim, provided in this framework will enable the upgrading of electrical capacity necessary to meet the energy needs of the center of the estuary.

Description The hydroelectric dam Ngoulmendjim will eventually produce 100 MW. Its implementation is planned for 2018.
