(Remember, no one day can exceed 24 hours.) 4) Look over your excel sheet and this paper to get a good idea of how you are spending your time. 5) Answer the following questions related to time management.

Questions 1. What surprised you about your time use? I think the thing that surprised me the most was how much time I spend doing nothing on some days, but on others I am contently busy! I believe that every day I need to find a balance of all activities so I do not find myself overloading. 2. Give an example (from your log) of how you spent your time which reflects one of your values (values influence our actions): One of my values is being happy. Spending time with my friends makes me happy and therefore reflects on my values. 3. Give an example (from your log) of how you spent your time which reflects one of your goals: Studying and class time are time that reflects my goal of finishing school and obtaining a degree. 4. What would you like to spend MORE time doing? I think that spending more time in a spiritual setting would do me some good. I have recently started going back to church but do not do as much spiritual study as I think I should. 5. What would you like to spend LESS time doing? I would like to spend less time watching television and more time reading or productive things. 6. Some time is discretionary and some is nondiscretionary (see definition in text). Rate your satisfaction with how you spent your discretionary time during these four days [on a scale of one to ten--one is low, ten is high]. Explain. On a scale of one to ten I would rate the use of my free time, a 4. I think that my free time is often wasted on things that arent really necessary. I could use this time to do things that I have always wanted to do like read a book or do crafts that have been on my list for a while. I do see the need for relaxation because I have a busy schedule and would rate relaxation high in priority. 7. What are you currently doing which seems to work well for you in managing your time? I keep a calendar hanging on my wall that I list everything that needs to be done each day. This helps me manage my time and stay on schedule to get everything done throughout the day. Without this I would be lost! 8. In what ways might you change the way you use your time, which would enhance the quality of your life, and increase your satisfaction with time use? Something that I may change in the future is to not only do things that I need to do, but also things that I want to do and make me happy. To do things I think I would like to schedule time for myself; alone time. I could read or craft or sew, but I need that time and it would be more useful then just watching TV.
