According to legend, a Greek man called Parthalon was expelled from Greece, and he and his family came

to Ireland. This was about 3,000 years before Christ. His descendants gradually spread out over the area of todays Dublin, and many of them lived around where Tallaght is today. For some reason, a plague struck, and as many as 9,000 people died in a short space of time. It is said that about 5,000 were buried in this area - and so we get the name

Taimh LeachtPlague Grave, translated to the name Tallaght in English.
