    sort of connection to be made with the outside world. Many times they are called metaphors or similes. Instead of just doing a standard metaphor or simile, some authors choose allude. Allusions can be much more complex, and intuitive than one may think. In Song of Solomon, Toni Morrisons use of names as biblical allusions enhances the cryptic world the characters live in.
