Garren Stewart Response to Anne Lamont

Shitty First Drafts was one of my favorite readings. To be honest, I liked it so much because it was reassuring. I am very self-conscious about reading my writings out loud. It is one thing to have them read, but to read a journal or such out loud just makes me feel like I am not a good writer. It is almost like I over think what I wrote and no longer am confident in it. This essay made me feel better about my first drafts. I realized that it was 100% okay to have doubts about a first draft and for that draft to be absolutely terrible. The entire purpose of the first draft is just to get you writing and not for it to be a perfect essay.
