Lord of the Flies Mock Trial You are responsible for a written submission in relation to your trial.

l. Lawyers are responsible for: 1. Opening statements 2. Closing statements o Opening Statement: You will have a maximum of three minutes to present your statement, which must be approximately 500 words. The statement must propose a theory through an explanation of the crime and what you will prove about the crime. The statement will introduce the witnesses, testimony, and evidence as well as explain how they will support your theory. o Closing Statement: You will have a maximum of three minutes to present your statement, which must be approximately 250 words. The statement must be a summation of testimony and evidence you use to argue your theory about the crime. The statement must reiterate the most important information from your argument. Witnesses are responsible for: 1. Direct examination questions and answers for their character 2. Cross examination questions for a character on the opposing side o Direct Examination Questions: Your character will answer eight questions, which will be approximately 500 words. The questions will establish the character and motive of the accused through events you have witnessed on the island. The questions will address the guilty act and the guilty mind of the accused in relation to the act of homicide. o Cross Examination Questions: You will create eight questions for a witness on the opposing side that impeaches their character and testimony.
