Summary: We need to come up with a fabrication process and feasibility analysis for a novel scanningimaging device.

All of us: We need to understand what we are trying to achieve. Tasks: -Please read Section 1 and 2 of 'SFE_Review_May_19_2010' -Please read 'micromachined optical waveguide cantilever as a resonant optical scanner' (All papers are on Dropbox\Papers\Previous Work) Mark: You can tackle the cantilever portion and perhaps do some simulation. Questions to answer: -How are cantilever structures microfabricated? -What is the typical resonant frequency of a microfabricated cantilever for each transverse axis? -What is the required yield strength/Youngs modulus of the cantilever material to achieve 10-20kHz resonance? Joseph: You can look into the light-detection mechanism. Questions to answer: -How are photosensors microfabricated? -What is the typical sensitivity of microfab photosensors? Himanshu: You can look into piezoelectric actuation. Questions to answer: -How are piezoelectric elements microfabricated? -What is the typical voltage applied to microfab piezoelectrics? Ivan: I will look into the laser-generation mechanism. Questions to answer: -How are laser sources microfabricated? -How are microfab lasers powered? -What is the power output for microfab lasers?

Himanshu Im sharing a 2 page document that kind of sums up the piezo actuation mechanism. I still trying to find the voaltege applied on piezoelectric microfabs. Ill keep looking for it till we meet. But in mean time you guys can go through this doc. http://www.dynamic-structures.com/storage/downloads-white-paperspdf/flextensional_piezoelectric_actuation.pdf
