Plight of DU students

Dhaka University is the highest seat of education in Bangladesh. Around 36,000 students study here. But transportation and accommodation facilities for the students are insufficient. About 60 percent students of DU stay at halls with limited lodging facilities. Single room is for brilliant students but two or more students stay in single rooms. Although double room is for two students, 4 or 5 students stay in a room for two. There is a room named gonoroom where more than 15 first year students stay with the backing of political leaders. Most of the gonorooms have no ventilators or windows. A student can only get a single room if he has strong political affiliation. Hall authorities are helpless before the political leaders. Students staying outside the campus do not get enough transport facilities to reach their destinations. University buses are always overloaded carrying too many students. Government should allocate more budgets for improving transportation and accommodation facilities of DU.
