News From Ms. Tindalls Class

Our Field to Table unit has been very exciting for our class. Students were amazed when they discovered that all of our food comes from either plants or animals (except for salt). Thanks for having conversations with your child about how the evenings food got to the table. Some vocabulary words weve been using in class to describe the people who make it happen are: growers, processors, packagers, transporters, storers, sellers and consumers. Weve been playing detective to find out what processes some common foods go through to make it to the table. Next well be comparing fresh and processed foods to determine the pros and cons of each. Sugar and chocolate are fascinating examples for the children. If anyone has access to sugar cane or the fruit from the cocoa plant we would love to see some in class. Also please do continue your investigative work with packaging and labels. See if you can find the production and expiration dates.
In partnership, Ms. Tindall
