Course Objectives Reflection

Using the list of course objectives below, create your own working definition of information literacy
(IL). Next, briefly discuss the areas you where you feel most confident and the areas where you feel
least confident with regard to your current understanding of IL.

Recognize the elements of the research or information seeking process.


Articulate their information needs and establish a sense of intentionality before embarking on
research projects.
Develop sound research strategies and practice effective searching techniques.
Understand the features and organizational patterns of various information categories and
types.
Acquire an awareness of print and electronic resources which are relevant to their scholarly
and/or professional work.
Use information technology to access, examine, employ, and manage information.
Create a range of artifacts which exhibit their ability to synthesize, critically evaluate and apply
the information they have encountered.
