Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact Rationale/Reflection InTASC Standard:

Standard #8: Instructional Strategies The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to apply knowledge in meaningful ways.

Brief Description of Evidence:

During my EDUC 233 course during the fall of 2013 I created an e-book called The Counting Book. This book follows a day in the life of Suzie the giraffe around her zoo counting the number of animals she sees.

Analysis of What I Learned:

Through writing this book I learned how to be creative and use other resources that I am not so familiar with. I have discovered that there are books out there that help a teacher teach almost anything. I also learned how to create a new resource if one is not available.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC Standard:

This artifact has shown me that I can have students learn and apply new information through stories. Not only could I use a book as the bases of a lesson but I could also use the book as the lesson alone by allowing them to create their own on topics that we are currently learning or researching. This shows that I can use new and creative instructional strategies with my future students.
