and Residence Life Scott Hall - UNC Charlotte 9201 University City Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28223-0001 Dear Ms. Simpson, I live in Witherspoon Hall, and overall I have been completely satisfied. I have a nice suite with hardly any problems, friendly roommates and neighbors, and have for the most part enjoyed my time here. However, there is something that has become somewhat of an inconvenience that could probably be fixed easily. I live on the third floor at the end of the hall, and there is a door there that I can leave from, though there is no way for me to get in from that door. There is no card swipe here, the only way to open it is from the inside. This is very inconvenient, because if I want to come in that door, I have to call my roommate and ask him to stop whatever he is doing to come open the door. There have been instances where my roommate was asleep, and I ended up having to go back down to the front door to get in. There are obviously other options for me to access the building easily, but none that are convenient for anyone on the top floor. I understand the reason that there isnt a card swipe at this door is probably for security reasons, but there is one on the first floor, so why couldnt there be one on the third? If someone were to break into the building, what would be different about them coming in through the third floor rather than the first floor? Either way, it would be a bad situation. I think that it should be consistent, either a swipe on all floors, or no swipes other than the front door, it is only fair. There is a simple solution to this inconvenience, that would benefit the other residents and I. We would greatly appreciate a card swipe on the third floor access door (second floor does not have one either) so that I could conveniently access my room without having to go around through the main entrance. I look forward to hearing back from you about this inconvenience. Sincerely, Alex Schenk
