James Nguyen Biology 1610 12/1/2013 Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium Discussion Question The five condition of Hardy Weinberg equilibrium

are that no mutation must take place, genes arent transferred from or to other sources, mating has to be random, a very large population, and no selection must occur. If any of these conditions are broken then the population wouldnt be in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium. If Heidy-Weinberg were to take place, there would be no genetic variation and genotypes would remain constant from generation to generation. If selection were to occur for example it would affect the frequency of particular genotypes, the same can be said for non-random mating. Mutation and the transfer of genes from other resources could also introduce new genes to the population changing gene frequency further.
