To the Walnut Creek Community: My name is Jacqueline Carroll, or Miss Carroll to your wonderful sons and daughters (I must

admit, Ive been waiting a long time for that title!). This year, I will be assisting Melissa Danner in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Art as her student teacher. Although I decided to pursue my teacher education program at a school that some consider off the map (Northern Michigan University), I wanted to let you know that I am, and have always been, a true advocate and family member of the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. It all began at Wixom Elementary where Deborah Bizoe taught me how to sew those frightfully adorable scarecrows that used to be seen around town during the fall season. It progressed at Sarah Banks Middle School where I learned what it meant to pursue artistic talents in the form of music and theatre (lets be honest, no one makes it big with the recorder); thanks go to Marjorie Marks and Jeff Danner. My decision to pursue a career in some form of artistic education was solidified at Walled Lake Western High School when Greg Cleveland gave me my first big solo in Annie and Jane Culling taught me how to develop my own film. Through these experiences, I have come to understand the importance of having quality mentors in a child/students life. It is my promise to do all I can to inspire and challenge your children the same way the staff of the Walled Lake District has always done and will continue to do. I am honored to be considered part of this incredible team and I am looking forward to meeting all of you at the upcoming Curriculum Night on September 19th. Until then, remember, Its a great day to be a Hawk! (To my NMU peers that is my schools slogan! Guess it will be a great day to be something , Wildcat or Hawk, for the rest of my life. Obviously this isnt going in the actual letter). Sincerely, Jacqui Carroll
