Dr. Peggy Brooks-Bertram is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She is an author, educator, social historian and community activist. She is also the co-founder of the Uncrowned Queens Institute for Research and Education on Women, Inc.. She is also co-author of four volumes entitled, Uncrowned Queens: African American Women Community Builders of Western New York and of Oklahoma.
With the same tireless commitment, almost missionary zeal that her subject, Drusilla Dunjee Houston employed to document the origins and historical significance of ancient african civilizations, Brooks-Bertram has committed herself to the reclamation of the life and work of this extraordinary woman.
