A symbol is anything that represents another thing. Sound confusing? It's really simple!

There are millions of symbols that you recognize every day. Look at the symbols I have handed out to you. What do these stand for?

The

main character is deathly allergic to roses? The only person handing out roses is a wicked witch disguised as an old woman?

If

a rose threatens a persons health, then its traditional meaning may have been changed by the author.

Marriage

The

ring is magical and bestows powers that tempt its possessor to greedy, corrupt behavior, and to betray his friends, as in The Lord of the Rings series?
