'o(e#er, perhaps the most contro#ersial t$pe o) #iolence (ould be gun #iolence (hich has struc* our nation much o#er the past ten $ears. +an$ Americans ha#e their o(n opinion on ho( the$ can sol#e this dilemma, ho(e#er, man$ opinions seem unrealistic and some(hat near impossible. , ha#e a thought o) (hat ma$ aid in this dilemma, ho(e#er, much o) m$ ideas ha#e alread$ been thought o). "he %nited &tates should ha#e a stricter bac*ground chec* )or all applicants that (ould li*e to purchase a )irearm- more speci)icall$, a bac*ground chec* to re#ie( (hether or not someone in the applicant.s )amil$ has had some sort o) #iolent crime or mental illness on record. "his (ould ha#e greatl$ helped and possibl$ could ha#e stopped the catastrophe at &and$ 'oo* elementar$ )rom e#er happening in the )irst place.
