WHAT SOUNDS DOES THE LETTER A MAKE?

Todays lesson is going to be on the letter Aa. What sounds does the letter A make? Does anyone know what sounds the letter A makes? So then, if you do, raise your hand. If no one does, then I will show you. If anyone can read this, what does it say? It says vowels, which I will tell you about later on in my lesson.

What is a vowel?

Vowels are special letters.

Todays lesson is

Does anyone know what is a vowel? Wait to see if anyone raises their hand. Then tell them what a vowel is. Ask around if they know any of the vowels. If none dont then point to each of the letters A,E,L,O, U. But if a couple know, then tell to wait and when I point to them they can say it. But we are going to focus on one letter today and it is the letter Aa.

Sometimes vowels do not say their name. These are the SHORT VOWELS. The short A sound says like in the words cat and apple. Lets practice. Say cat. Do you hear in cat? Say apple. Do you hear in apple? What sound does the short a make? . Now we are going to sing a song about the short a sound. Stop video at 1:06

Sometimes vowels say their name. These are the LONG VOWELS. The long A sound says like in the words snake and ape. Lets practice. Say snake. Do you hear in snake? Say ape. Do you hear in ape?
