Running head: DAY OF ACTION TO DEFEND EDUCATION

Along the years the economy has been in such a rollercoaster, this instability has come to affect education as well. It has raised the cost of education and angered many students, teachers and parents. People thought of this as an insult rather than a change in the economy, one of the most affected areas was California and Georgia. This created a whole protest against the government; The National Day of Action to Defend Education, which started March 4th, 2010. In the following three articles I examined, it shows different ways the media transmitted this special event. Protesting the cuts of education cost; in this article the author explains how students are suffering from budget cuts towards their education. These budget cuts drove them to start a protest against this issue. More than 100 protests in 33 states broke out, this protest then became known as the Day of Action to Defend Education. This article only gives basic information about what happened during this day of action. It also contains some statistics of how tuition increased as much as 30 percent for students. This particular article does not contain enough information to fully understand what truly happened this day of action. It does provide a picture in which people are protesting, these particulars have really strong and mad expressions where the reader can right away tell the Protestants are seeking for help. National Day of Action to Defend Education; this is a video stream they shot during a protest in which students, professors, and parents are chanting for their education. This particular protest took place in New York City, March 1st, 2012. During this video they show people chanting, and holding up billboards. This shows the audience they want support from others to get their point across. These protesters claim how the government receives a large amount that goes to waste, which can be used

Running head: DAY OF ACTION TO DEFEND EDUCATION towards education. People fear that if this continues all hope for education will go to waste. The crowd in this protest seems very upset, and will not stop their protest until gaining what they propose. This video stream has very good information to give to the public about what is going on in education and most importantly in this Day of Action to Defend Education.

USA: March 4 Day of Action to Defend Education; the author for this article gives more information about this day of action. This specific article shows more statistics such as tuition increase rates, dates, and times. The more statistics the author gives the better the reader can understand and the more they can get the get an emotion towards the writing. This article also explains how students were doing walkouts, marches, and rallies in order to be heard and be supported. The article also provides a very strong illustration; it looks more like a poster which says Protect Your Education. This poster has a lot of meaning in this article because it is showing how people should fight and protect their education. This poster also represents how important it is for education needs so much support, many students and teachers are suffering by these changes in school budgets. Even though it might seem that all these three articles may be talking about the same things each media transmitted this event in their own unique way. In the first article, the information about the Day of Action to Defend Education was very limited. It did not contain many pictures and very little statistics. The video stream was able to get the audience to understand how the protest being held and what these group of people were protesting for. It also showed how upsetting this situation had become. In the last article had the most information about the event, it had more statistics, more examples

Running head: DAY OF ACTION TO DEFEND EDUCATION and very important images. It is really important to compare articles just the way I did here to understand different perspectives of an event an event and how media resources transmit the events.
