November, 2013 This afternoon was the colour of naked bark and cold fires; The trees sprinkled

lightly with the blowing leaves; The sidewalks glittered dully with the heavy fallen rain; And the houses are warm with the newly turned-on heater systems and the windows closed On the bus stop on the edge of campus, Two young women, sitting on the bench, Discussing the most recent lecture To make sense of quantum physics. Someday there will be no more problems Then I shall take this afternoon out And hold it in my hands And remember the crisp, cold, strong wind And imagine the bare branches from my rattling window To-day I can only write of it And fold it into my wallet For I have no more free time Except for some TV shows to watch while doing homework Consequent to our troubled world.
