Cloning Our State Bear 1. 2.

The animal I chose to bring back is the California Golden Bear.

3. 4.

At the California Academy of Sciences there is a preserved California Golden Bear on display. With permission I would be able to take a look for remaining DNA. I would take the scarce DNA and fuse it, using electricity, with a nucleus. Then I would make my egg fused nucleus undergo cell division and create an embryo. The embryo would be implanted into the uterus of a female grizzly bear.

The animal would live in its natural state but could not migrate far. They could be kept and protected in state and national parks. The animal sadly would experience human interaction and may get injured in the process. As humans we have destroyed many habitats causing the extinction of many species. Many people would agree with me to allow the resurrection of the states animal. Others would argue that we do not have the right to bring back animals from the dead. Some would say the animal would never be in its exact habitat due to deforestation, littering of forests, and hunting. The animal is territorial and is very dangerous around fall. I believe we owe a debt for killing so many species. I believe we should bring back the Golden Bear. Its safety cannot be guarantee but at least we can try.
