Gauntlet Lesson Plan Objectives and Assessments Students will be able to play Bb (on the A string) and E (on

on the D string) with correct intonation. Violas at m.2-5 Violins at m.6-8 Cellos and Bass at m.14-16, 29-32 Personal Objective To achieve the lesson objectives, remaining focused on those objectives and giving clear instructions. Demonstrate leadership as the conductor. Introduction Today we are going to talk about intonation and practice playing our Bbs and Es in tune in Gauntlet. Procedure Demonstrate bad intonation Students will use hand signals (down, up, or stop) to indicate if the note I play is flat, sharp, or in tune with relation to a reference pitch Play d minor scale slowly, to identify problems with Bb and E intonation Violins, Violas, and Cello start scale on their D string Basses start scale on their D string, or E string in necessary . If necessary, have individual sections play scale stopping on Bb or E and holding that note. Play sections of Gauntlet that contain these notes. Check Bb and E, make sure they blend with each other.
