Procedure Demonstrate bad intonation Students will use hand signals (down, up, or stop) to indicate if the note I play is flat, sharp, or in tune with relation to a reference pitch Play d minor scale slowly, to identify problems with Bb and E intonation Violins, Violas, and Cello start scale on their D string Basses start scale on their D string, or E string in necessary . If necessary, have individual sections play scale stopping on Bb or E and holding that note. Play sections of Gauntlet that contain these notes. Check Bb and E, make sure they blend with each other.
