Approximation methodology Approximation is nothing but having the exact answer or an answer which is close enough.

In other words it is the method of obtaining the estimated value or correct answer for the range of tolerance Interpolation is the process of obtaining a value from a graph or table that islocated bet ween major points given, or between data points plotted. A ratioprocess is usually used to

obtain the value. There are several types of interpolation, but in this case I suppose you want to use "linear interpolation," which is based on the fact that the values are increasing or decreasing linearly. For instance, consider a table of values (xi , yi), where i = 0, 1, ... , n of any function Y = f(x), the values of x being equally-spaced, i.e. xi = xo + ih, where i = 0, 1, ... , n. The process of estimating the values of y, for any intermediate value of x is called interpolation The methods of interpolation can be classified under two categories Graphical Methods, and Algebraic Methods. Algebraic Methods are further subdivided as Methods of Equal intervals Binomial Expansion method, Newtons methods of Advancing Differences, Methods of unequal intervals, Newtons Method of Divided Intervals, Lagranges Method, Parabolic Curve When two or more values in a series are missing the Binomial expansion method can be easily be applied. When two or more values are missing, we get two unknown quantities in the equation obtained by Binomial expansion. To find the two unknown quantities, we need to form two equations. By solving these two equations simultaneously, missing values can be obtained. For forming two equations, first two leading difference in the Binomial expansion are taken equal to zero. Extrapolation is the process of obtaining a value from a chart or graph that extends beyond the given data. The "trend" of the data is extended past the last point given and an estimate made of the value.
