What is an Environment?

What will we learn from this lesson?


We

will understand why animals live in certain places. We will learn that there are many different kinds of animals living in different environments. Understand that living things adapt to their environment in order to survive.

Vocabulary:

Environment:
a place and all the living things and non-living things in it.

Habitat:
A place where a living thing can get the food, water and shelter it needs to survive.

An

environment is made up of all the living and non-living things in a place. Non-living: water, weather and rocks. Living things: plants and animals. Environments can be: - wet - warm - cold - hot - dry

is an environment made up of? Are all environments the same? What is a habitat? What would happen if an animal was removed from its environment and put in another environment?

Environments

are made up of different habitats.

Habitats: a place where living things have food, water and Pond- for a fish, frog Tree- for a bird and tree snake shelter it needs to survive.

can change environments. HOW: - cut down trees and plants - bring in new trees and plants **When they do this, animals can lose their habitats.

Ex:

Before the CNMI had no Tagantagan trees. Then someone many years ago brought it to Saipan to make the soil good for planting. Now tagantagan trees grow every where stopping other smaller trees from growing under it.

is to change, to be able to live in an environment. This takes time to happen. Animals and plants both have to adapt to their environment to live.
