To belong to something means that you fit in and are accepted by other members of that particular group of people.

Some unifying elements may be having similar beliefs, similar goals, liking the same hobbies, and the same ideas. You must have a respect for people in order to belong and accept the group. If you are trying to join a group at school there are some steps that need to be accomplished before you are accepted. Some groups can be very exclusive and may only let a certain number or type of people join. You may have to prove as to why you think you should be allowed in this group. ne example of

this can be a sorority or fraternity. To join one of these groups it can take up to several weeks. You have to go through certain events and explore your options as to which sorority or fraternity you enjoy the best and wish to join and hope that they like you back. !nother example of an exclusive group can be a sports team. The coaches only let a certain amount of people join the team and you also have to prove to them that you are good enough to become a team member. There are also some groups that it does not take much to belong and become a member of. ne example is joining "abitat for "umanity. To join this

group all you have to do is come to the meetings and events and you are automatically accepted as a member. This also goes for many other clubs that are here at #$% %harlotte. In the end, belonging to something can be seen as a literal sense and&or a figurative sense. You can physically belong to a group but might not be accepted by other members.
