Analyze the role of imperialism and industrialism as factors in the rise of global conflict since the Age of Enlightenment. (DOK 3) 6. a. Assess the role that scarce resources, the quest for markets, and technological innovation have played in conflicts between states and/or empires since the Age of Enlightenment. (DOK 3) 6. b. Analyze the role of imperialism, geography, and market economies in the development of the economies of third world nations in Africa. (DOK 3) Materials: Book Paper Pen or Pencil Timeline Worksheet Colored Pencils or Markers Opening (Set): 1. (Bell Ringer) TSW answer 1 of the Chapter 12 Section 1 Reading Focus Questions 2. TTW ask questions about imperialism to review from the day before. What is imperialism? Do you find it ethical? Why do you think imperialism happened? Do you think imperialism still happens?

Daily Lesson Plan

Learning Tasks (Procedures): 1. TSW look up dates to events on a timeline worksheet alone. (30 min) 2. TSW get in group of 4 to share information and complete the timeline and put the dates in chronological order as a group. Then they will make a visual timeline as a group. (15 min)

Closure: 1. TTW talk about imperialism and the order of events and cause and effect. Why did things happen the way that they did. TTW ask questions like: Could imperialism happen a different way? Why did it not?

Differentiated Instruction: Enrichment: What will you do during the lesson to challenge advanced students? TSW make a visual model of the timeline.

Intervention: What will you do during the lesson to support struggling learners or those in the Tier process/RTI? TSW will work with a student of a higher learning level. Accommodation (Students in Special Education with IEP): TSW be given a worksheet with the events already in order and must just find the dates.
