Jamie Dunkley 524 N Mira Ave Star, ID 83669 October 4, 2013 John Ferretti Principal Boise High School

Dear Mr. Ferretti, I am applying for the English Language Arts position at Boise High School. I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in English from Nevada State College in May 2009 and completed my student teaching at Lowell Scott Middle School in the fall of 2013. While completing my student teaching, I had a very talented Co-Teacher and learned many valuable lessons that I will take with me and implement in my own classroom. Although I did student teach with middle school students, I have great rapport with high school aged students and know my teaching style will work well at many different grade levels. Like Boise High School, LSMS is an Idaho GoOn school. It is important to show students what they can accomplish if they set their minds to it. I value a good education and I would be the kind of teacher who would teach my students the importance of going on to higher education. While in the classroom, I was able to implement technology into most of my lesson. Students were able to access the notes and lesson for each day using the Team Discovery website which allowed them to catch up on anything they might have missed while absent. Additionally, planning lessons around CCSS, I was able to bring in outside sources through articles and videos that paired well with many of the lessons. The behavior plan set for my classroom was clear and precise, leaving no room for students to question their consequence when breaking a rule. I am a fair, but just teacher and feel strong classroom management is vital to the learning environment. Thank you for looking over my resume and considering me for this position. I enjoy being in the classroom and helping students achieve their best. I know I would be beneficial to your staff and look forward to the opportunity to show what I can do. Respectfully yours, Jamie Dunkley
