Early Years Educational Services (EYES) is pleased to announce the spring schedule for their short Continuing Professional Development courses. Each course is led by an experienced and knowledgeable EYES tutor with the aim of inspiring, exciting and educating each participant giving them knowledge & skills to take back into their classroom. These courses are an excellent opportunity for individuals to update their knowledge, refresh their ideas and to be part of the wider educational community. Paediatric First Aid Course This 6 hours course covers core Primary and Secondary skills of First Aid such as - scene safety assessment, CPR specifically for children & infants, responding appropriately to choking, serious bleeding management, bandaging and splinting, spinal injury management and suspected breaks and fractures, to name but a few.
Students receive certification card valid for 3 years. Certification cards are issued by HABC.

Through the Eyes of a Child


Adults see things in black and white reality. Through the eyes of a child everything changes. The world is filled with endless possibilities. Through this hands on session recapture your ability to see things through another perspective and make your classroom a really exciting place to be. Be prepared to bring resources and use them in collaboration with others. Level 2 Award in Food Safety This course is for anyone working with young children, anyone involved in food preparation or handling lunch boxes. It will promote essential food hygiene awareness and demonstrate the need for good practices in food preparation areas. It will cover a variety of topics such as food poisoning, personal hygiene and pest control.

Play is the Work of Children A childs mind is different from adults and they see the world in a different way. Through their play they explore using all their senses, test out ideas and create new ones through hypothesis; look for patterns, make connections and experiment to test out new theories. Learning through play can be enriching if children are allowed to make choices and have ownership of their activities. This course examines how we can provide an enriching environment to support all play activities. Running and Active Games
Running games require little equipment and are quick and easy to organise. They promote stamina, awareness of space, boundary recognition, rule following and they are fun! Come and discover active games for all ages and settings, both indoor and out. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes, this is an interactive course, be prepared to take part!

Developing Your Role Certification Play cards are issued by HABC.


Role-play can take many different forms and serve many purposes. As well as feeding the imagination and encouraging empathy, it is a powerful way of developing social skills. This course examines how to plan with your children to set up effective low cost role play and provides ideas to take back into your classroom.

Maths From Stories


Children learn best when their learning is linked and stories are a great way to develop understanding in all areas of the curriculum. Through stories mathematical concepts can be introduced, explored and developed in a fun way that children can relate to. This course introduces you to delightful stories that can be used to introduce shape, space and measures as well as numbers and shows you activities that you can use to develop childrens mathematical thinking and language.

Understanding Schema Play Schemas patterns of repeated behaviour when children play, are key to understanding how an individual child learns and what stage they are at. This course will briefly explain the theory behind schema play, identify different schema you may see in your childrens play and make suggestions for activities to meet the needs and interests which they are exploring in these schema.
