Lab 4: Hypothesis: Ball 1 will hit ball 2 and it will increase the velocity and momentum of ball 2 and

vise versa. What is the relationship between the initial and final momentums? The initial momentum is smaller than the final momentum of on the ball being hit. Describe the motion of the balls before and after the collision. As ball 1 hit ball 2 ball, number 2s velocity and momentum increase and vise versa. Part 3 1. If you change the elasticity of the balls that will slow them down. This will cover the conservation of momentum as well. 2. If you add another ball that will cause there to be more momentum and velocity if the balls are hit at the same time. 3. If there is only one ball in the box the velocity and the momentum will stay the same. Part 3 answers: 1. If you change the elasticity to half it does cause the balls to slow down the velocity and momentum are not as great. 2. When another ball was added to the box the velocity and the momentum pretty much stayed the same and so it stilled followed the conservation of momentum. 3. When there was only one ball in the box the velocity and the momentum stayed the same but was increased when the mass was increased. Summary: The main ideas in this lab were to show how the velocity and momentum change with mass and elasticity when two objects collide. It also was showing how this follows the conservation of momentum.
