Ms. Lemmons Classroom Newsletter

Introduction
Greetings to students and parents alike! My name is Ms. Lemmon, and I am so glad to meet you! I will be working with Mrs. Nein for the next eight weeks, and I could not be more excited. Since we are working on this week, I thought I would share some adjectives to introduce a little about me!

This Weeks Highlights

Language Arts We will continue practicing our Daily 5 Routine. Consider what type of Accelerated Reading book you would like to read to yourself and to a partner! Math I cannot wait to practice addition and subtraction facts! Science Learning about the solar system will be such a fun experience! Social Studies We will learn about the different tribes of American Indians. At home, you should discuss what you know about the Lakota of the Plains, the Pueblo of the Southwest, and the Powhatans, who lived in our region of the Eastern Woodlands!

Adjectives about Ms. Lemmon

Bookish: I always have my nose in a book! Whether it is a book about fun activities for the classroom or the newest from the Hunger Games trilogy, I love to read. Tall: I am quite tall, just like my brother. He is six feet and three inches tall! We call him The Giant. Excited: I have been looking forward to working with your class for a long time, and now I get to help you all learn and grow.

Costume Day
Since we are learning about the American Indians, we will have costume day on Friday where all students may dress up like the Indian of their choice! For ideas, the Social Studies textbook is packed with pictures of Indians. The students should be encouraged to dress up like either a Lakota, Pueblo, or Powhatan Indian! I cannot wait to see what you put together.

Reading Log

Parents and Students,

It is important to be reading at home as well as at school.

Did you know that reading 20 minutes a day can add up to 10 extra days a year of reading?
Students, you may read a book of your choice! Each students reading log should be signed every night.
