Paulina, Scarlett, Martha, Mariana. Art 1 2nd bicultural

Break dancing did begin in the late 70's. It was a huge phenomenon in the US and the UK, and Puerto Rico, among other places, by the mid 80's. Break dancing began as street dancing. People used this form of dancing as a form of self expression.

ORIGIN AND STYLE

It also carried with it a dress code -"parachute" pants, legs tied with bandanas, mesh shirts and long, wild hair.

WHAT IS IT?
Break dance incorporates many types of moves that can vary as widely as a breaker's imagination and athleticism will allow. The inventory of break dance moves is extensive, and there are competitions throughout the world, with a growing number of dancers becoming sponsored entities. The people who perform this style of dance are known as b-boys or b-girls.
