Why Sport Superstitions Are Effective!

The Story Of Wade Boggs

Wade is an All-American Professional Baseball Athlete, who plays for the Boston Red Sox. Playing 18 years of professional baseball, Wade was considered the most superstitious player in 2008. Wade was obsessed with the number 17. Before every game Wade would take ground ball practice 17 balls at a time, run 17 sprints, and took batting practice 17 pitches per a rotation. Wade wakes up exactly at the same time every day 6:17, because of his lucky number 17! However, Wade is most known as the Chicken Man. Before every game Wade would eat a bucket of chicken to ease all the distractions from the crowd and high-pressure environments before every game. Why Chicken? Some people say its for protein purposes, other say its for good luck! What does the chicken really give Wade Boggs? A successful and effective sports routine. This routine mentally prepares Boggs before every game, physically and mentally.

My forth genre is more enhanced and developed piece. This talks about how my so-called girlfriend is considered to be a superstitious person. She has all these crazy ideas and thoughts, not to mention but very superstitious. I use prime examples such as, breaking a mirror, black cat crossing, walking on cracks, four-leaf clovers. However with all her craziness I am still with her thinking shes normal. Then another gentleman enters talking about the placebo effect and how she believes in something thats not true. Which brings doubts and questions into my mind, beginning to think she is truly crazy. Countering the gentlemans argument, she states how her routine and rituals have caused her to become very successful. So weather its real or not, it all depends on a persons confidence and motivational levels. Everything in sports is psychological. This genre states a good argument and counterargument!

The rally cap is significant in any sport. It considered being the most superstitious object in the world of sports. Why do all these team use the rally cap, yet there is no proof that it truly is effective. Yes, it can magical and super powerful for some teams, but why not others? Maybe its about finding the right rally cap. However, the rally cap is more used in order to gain confidence and hope in a time of stress. The cap gives athletes an extra boast of confidence and sense of control. Like mentioned earlier the brain is truly a powerful thing, and sports are considered mainly mental. I you think youre going to win a game, then chances are you should win the game. If you believe a good luck charm works, then chances are you believe it truly works. On the other hand, critics would say sports superstitions are a bunch of crap. Its all based on the concept of the placebo effect.
