Food Webs: How are organisms related?

Objective: The student will understand the interrelatedness of food webs and see how populations affect other populations. Based on the food web activity, answer the following questions. 1) Organize the following terms in this format ______________ (eats) ________ _ (eats) ___________ Herbivore Carnivore Producer 2) What would be the affect on this food chain if the snake was bird was removed from the web (gone extinct)? (Hint: What would happen to the rest of the animals affected by that species when we were pulling the strings or what would happen to its predator?)

3) What was the one common energy source to all of the species on the food web?

4) We discussed decomposers during the activity. Why was it that they are not usually included in the food chain?
