NHD (China in the 1940s) Research


-On July 7, 1937, Japanese troops were at the Marco Polo Bridge. Some Chinese fired cannons at where they were so a Japanese Officer thought one of their missing soldiers had been taken. China and Japan argued and got into a war. The Japanese controlled 1 million Chinese after months. All of the major cities and communication systems in the nation were captured by 1937. The Japanese focused on an enemy they saw but also had to fight an enemy they couldn't see. The war left many people dead and more homeless. During the war, the Japanese kept on offering treaties but the Chinese rejected them. China had a lot of poor people who died of hunger on the streets. One boy died sitting next to his empty bowl and one died before he could even eat his food in his bowl. China had enough food to feed its people but had a weak government to confront the heartless merchants. Mao Zedong gave the poor food and money from the rich. -Japan also conquered Korea and Taiwan. As Japan gained land, the British and the US were brought in to the conflict and supported China. In 1945, US ended the war by dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima. -The current era was sharply bifocal, and the era witnessed an influx of foreign ways, goods, trades, and ideas. Modern influences were starting to pile up. Ideas were offered in the 1930s/1940s to China for economical regeneration. - A lot of airforce airplanes were used in the China/Japan war such as C-53, C-54, C-46, C-47, and DC-3. World War 2 ended in 1945 and then the Chinese resumed their civil war. The Communists come into Beijing and then Mao Tse-tung declares founding of the People's Republic of China. Mao takes China in his control and allies the country with the Soviet Union.
