very intri ued! I had never done anythin "ike this #e$ore! I uess the $irst thin was to think o$ a story or co""ection or re"ated stories% with so&e sort o$ techno"o ica" screen% a$$ected &y "i$e! It did not take &e "on to think o$ &y cousin and his story% and how his story% 'ortrayed #y a (ou)u#e video% a$$ected &y "i$e as a who"e! )his video wou"d $it very we"" into the 'ro&'t that was iven to the c"ass! )he ne*t ste' was an even &ore tricky one! I had to co&e u' with a way to te"" the story o$ &e watchin a video a#out another 'ersons story! I had to +u "e #etween ivin an idea o$ &y cousins story whi"e te""in the story o$ how I was e$$ected #y a"" o$ what was ha''enin ! )his was very tricky #ecause I had actua""y had a $ew di$$erent situations where I encountered the video in di$$erent settin s% and I took di$$erent thin s away each ti&e! Not anythin drastica""y di$$erent% #ut enou h% I think% to #e worthy o$ te""in in &y narrative! ,o eventua""y I ot it down to -./ di$$erent ti&es where I encountered the video% #y either ta"kin a#out it or actua""y watchin it! 0ach o$ these ti&es was with a di$$erent 'erson or rou' o$ 'eo'"e! I had to $i ure out a way to either $it a"" $ive o$ these stories in the sa&e audio narrative% which I thou ht &i ht actua""y #e 'ossi#"e 1I don2t know what I was thinkin 3% or I wou"d have to cut the nu&#er down! )he $irst thin I tried was to $it a"" / o$ these stories into the audio narrative! I had to #e very concise with each o$ these stories! 4oncise to the 'oint where I was dro''in a"&ost any detai" whatsoever% "osin any e&otiona" 'ower #ehind the stories the&se"ves and +ust ettin the #are #ones o$ the actua" $u"" idea! It #asica""y read "ike so&eone had taken s'ark notes o$ a #ook and su&&ari5ed the&! It was rea""y #ad% and sti"" way to "on ! I had to $i ure out a way to cut out so&e o$ the stories% whi"e kee'in the &ain 'oint in tact! )his was a hu e cha""en e! I $ina""y &ana ed to cut a $ew o$ the stories% which "e$t &e with three! )hese three stories "e$t the stories a who"e with a $ew ood 'oints

a#out what the video has done! A$ter I wrote & ne*t dra$t with +ust the three stories% I read the 'a'er and ti&ed &yse"$ readin it! I was sti"" 2 $u"" &inutes over! I &ade a decision that rea""y cou"d e$$ect &y 'a'er as a who"e! I decided% instead o$ cuttin another story% to cut the detai" I 'ut into the stories! It was rea""y hard #ein so concise with &y words and &y "an ua e% so&ethin I have never rea""y #een "i&ited #y #e$ore! I &ana e to cut the ne*t dra$t to +ust around - &inutes "on % which is very e*citin % #ut% I ran into &ore 'ro#"e&s! When I eventua""y &ade it to the recordin 'hase% rou h"y Wednesday ni ht% I was ready to o! 6irst thin I did was do a test recordin % and it sounded aw$u"! )here was this very harsh c"ickin noise co&in $ro& so&e indiscerni#"e '"ace! It was very $rustratin ! ,o I went to $ind an audio &ic #ut #ecause o$ so&e very cra5y events% and +ust i"" "uck% I ca&e u' short! ,o )hursday and 6riday ni ht I s'ent recordin and rerecordin #its o$ &y essay% 'ickin out the #est version I cou"d $ro& the $ew tria"s that I did! )he $inished version sti"" has s"i ht c"ickin noise% #ut I ot it down to the 'oint where it is not as noticea#"e! Another 'ro#"e& I had with the recordin was that% #ecause &y voice is so dee'% so&e o$ the in$"ections I was &akin with &y voice don2t sound &uch di$$erent on the recordin ! )hose two recordin o#stac"es were de$inite"y the hardest 'arts a#out the essay as a who"e% and were re&edied as &uch as they cou"d #e! I rea""y en+oyed workin with the new &ediu&! I "ook $orward to workin with it a ain in the near $uture!
