! Big question: how does the substances affect its pH level?! !

Materials: ! 1. 12 Dixie cups labeled 1-12 and 3 Dixie cups labeled A, B, C! 2. pH testing strips! 3. pH chart! 4. 12 different drinks! 5. Grid to record on! 6. Tub!

Procedure:! 1. Put the items in the tub! 2. Test 1 liquid at a time! 3. Negotiate pH number! 4. Everyone records the data! 5. Negotiate combination of 2 liquids for test A, B, and C (label cups with liquid names)! Record pH for test A, B, and C.!

! Claim: We claim the substance does affect the pH level.! !

Evidence: We learned that some substances had more acid than others,! so it affected the pH level. Baking soda with H2O had the highest pH! level, it's pH level was 8. Real lemon had the lowest pH level and it's pH level was 2. Most of the substances had a pH level of 4. The ones that had the pH level of 4 was powerade, rock star, tea, Pepsi, backing soda with h2o, powerade and essentials mixed, and rock star and Mt Dew mixed. 5 and only 3 has a pH of 8, 3 and 2. Coke and mountain! dew both have low sodium, Pepsi has very low sodium and tea is sodium! free. Real lemon was the only one that had a pH of 2, baking soda w/! H2O was the only one with a pH of 8 and coke was the only on that had! a pH of 3. When you mix baking soda with H2O it has a pH level of 6,! if you mix powerade and Essentials you get a pH level of 5 and, the! same if you mix rock star Mountain Dew. Some of Jack's experiments were At his friends house they combined substances like soda, water, salt, pepper and walking taco in! a drink. Also, he had some kind of a same experience where Jackson and him! were at this dinner and they combined substances in dr pepper like gum,! salt, pepper, cheese, skittles and mixed it up than drank it. When! ever He goes to mc Donald's or somewhere were your able to have fountain! pop He mixes all the combinations together. One of my experiments was when I mixed powerade, tea, and water. One of Megan's experiments was when she watched her brother mix chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, strawberry syrup, pancake syrup, and milk. Another one of Megan's experiments was when she mixed sprite and orange juice. One of Alexis' experiments was when she mixed sprite and lemonade, then she drank it. !
